O'Fallon, IL (KSDK) - Eastbound I-64 reopens following a serious car accident where a vehicle struck four male highway workers near Illinois 159 in O'Fallon, IL.

Two victims were airlifted to Saint Louis University Hospital, and one was transported to SLU on ground.
SLU Hospital confirms that one worker has died. He has been identified as Dennis Beard of Pocahontas, Illinois. The hospital says he has three children. His family says he was 38-years-old.

Brian Moore, 40, is listed in critical condition at SLU Hospital. Another worker, 32-year-old Adam Evans, remains in surgery.

A fourth worker, 39-year-old Kory Links, was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Illinois State Police say that at approximately 9:34 a.m., a 2000 Honda Accord driven by 34-year-old Michael Jeter struck a truck mounted attenuator (TMA) that was attached to the rear of a construction vehicle. The construction vehicle was parked on the inside shoulder of eastbound Interstate 64.

Police say all of the workers were on or near the TMA when it was hit.

Jim Kilian, president of Kilian Corporation, says the workers were on a striping project for IDOT on eastbound I-64 Monday morning.

The workers were subcontracted by Kilian to Briteway Striping of New Baden, Illinois.

Michael Jeter was taken to Memorial Hospital in Belleville with non-life threatening injuries.

Illinois State Police is investigating the crash.
