Hesperia, CA (KTLA/CNN) - A 13-year-old girl and her two friends were arrested in California Tuesday.

Police say they tried to carry out a plot to kill the girl's mother.

"Unbelievable. You know it's so sad these kids nowadays," said neighbor Chris Stalinaki.

Inside a humble trailer in Hesperia on Tuesday, a 13-year-old girl and two of her classmates attempted to murder her mom in her bedroom, but she managed to fight back.

"Three juveniles had conspired, formulated a plan and attempted to kill the 13-year-old's mother," said Jodi Miller with the San Bernardinao County Sheriff's Department.

"I thought somebody passed away the way she was screaming outside. But,I seen her daughter run by. I didn't even think nothing, you know, I thought oh my God this lady, you know, somebody had to pass away in that house," said Stalinaki.

Frightening moments for a mother who apparently works a lot.

"Half the time I didn't even know anybody was living there. I never seen anybody," said Stalinaki.

All three suspects are Ranchero Middle School students. The two friends are a 14-year-old boy and girl. They're no longer in a classroom, but in juvenile hall facing attempted murder charges.

"They were booked for conspiracy, attempt murder and burglary," said Miller.

The motive may have something to do with house rules imposed by mom.

"There was conflict between the victim and the daughter based on some rules that the mother was implementing in the home," said Miller.

The woman was not seriously hurt in the attack.
