St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis Police have a man in custody after he led officers on a two-state chase.
The pursuit began in Brentwood around 12:10 p.m. after a man robbed a woman at gunpoint in the Brentwood Promenade. Officers chased the suspect down I-64 into Illinois then back into Missouri. Several times during the chase the suspect was seen going the wrong way along the interstate.
Lt. Ryan Cousins of the St. Louis Police Department says, "Going the wrong way on the highway, you could imagine how dangerous that is."
St. Louis Police used spike strips to try and stop the vehicle. The suspect was captured around 1:30 p.m. along Church Street in north St. Louis. There were no reports of any injuries during the chase.
Brentwood Police are looking into whether this suspect is connected to other area armed robberies.
Two weeks ago, there were incidents in Crestwood, Shrewsbury, and South St. Louis County.
Then last week, Brentwood, Bridgeton and St. Louis city were hit.
Authorities released surveillance images of four suspects.
So far they've arrested two and charged one, 17-year old Markele Prince.
Police want to know if the man arrested today, may have been involved in some of those other crimes.
They say he has an extensive criminal history and was already wanted for another robbery in the county.
Shoppers say they're glad there's been an arrest, but they'll keep their guards up for now.
Shopper Candice Oliver says, "It sends a message obviously that they're on top of it and they're aiming to eradicate it. But again it's important for us to know about it so we need to be aware and need to be informed."
Authorities expect charges on the suspect sometime tomorrow.
