St. Louis (KSDK) - A solar panel battle is brewing between a Soulard bar owner and the City of St. Louis.
Bob Hiscox wants to put the panels on the roof of his Bastille Bar and Grill. He's already spent thousands of dollars on a new roof and panels.
But the building sits on Russell and Menard in a national historic district, and solar power would break the rules in Soulard where visible panels are not allowed.
"I see satellite dishes from one area to the other. I have air conditioners up here all the air conditioners and satellite dishes up the street here visible, but they made it a point that because I was on the main corridor coming into Russell that they didn't want to be contaminated with the future technology," said Hiscox.
He says he doesn't plan to give up his fight, and has already collected signatures on a petition to change the city ordinance.
