Cahokia, IL (KSDK) - It was an emotional night in the Metro East as friends and family held a candlelight vigil in memory of a young murder victim.
Amos Bullocks, 18, is charged with the murder of a teen who died on her 18th birthday, and the shooting of her friend who survived.
On Friday night those close to both girls gathered to pray, light candles and reflect on how this violence has destroyed so many lives.
It happened last Sunday when 17-year-old Venita Allen was shot twice in the head. She died from her injuries Friday.
Injured in the shooting was a 16-year-old friend who was shot in the neck.
Police haven't released a motive but the 16-year-old's sister called it a nightmare for everyone involved.
Friends say Bullocks was very controlling and jealous of a relationship between Venita Allen and her boyfriend.
