Truesdale, MO (KSDK)-   A high speed chase in Warren County Sunday night has left a man dead, after he crashed while trying to out-run police from Truesdale, Missouri.

Officials have not released information relative to what initiated the pursuit around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, along eastbound Veterans Memorial Parkway west of Wright City.  Troopers with the Missouri Highway Patrol were NOT involved in the police chase, but did work the accident scene and report.

According to the Patrol report; 27 year old Ted Fitzgerald of St. Peters was being chased by Truesdale officers when he lost control of his pick-up truck while travelling at excessive speed and slammed into a guardrail.

The crash scene was on Veterans Memorial Parkway where it crosses South Stracks Church Road on the south side of Interstate 70.

The crash impact sent the truck overturning and ejecting Fitzgerald.  The vehicle continued to roll and struck another guardrail, before the truck flipped back onto its wheels and into a nearby field where the vehicle came to a stop.

Fitzgerald was pronounced dead at the scene.  More information is anticipated later today on why Fitzgerald was being pursued by police.
