St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- A construction contractor working for Ameren Missouri is blamed for rupturing a low-pressure gas main in the midtown St. Louis area late Monday.
Laclede Gas officials say despite the broken line, they have experienced no service interruptions to customers and no call for evacuations in the area where the line was broken around 11:00 p.m. last evening.
Company officials say the contractor was working on replacing underground ducts that house cables for Ameren Missouri on Vandeventer near McPherson when the gas line was struck.
Laclede Gas told NewsChannel 5 the construction crew involved was working for Ameren on a scheduled project, done in the overnight hours to minimize the amount of impediments to traffic if the work was done later in the day.
Laclede Gas says repairs are expected to be complete by 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
