St. Louis County, Mo (KSDK) -- A stretch of I-270 was closed Tuesday in St. Louis County.

Crews closed I-270 from Manchester Road to Big Bend at 10 a.m. Tuesday for about 15 minutes to blast rock as part of two-year project to widen the interstate.  A second blast scheduled for 1:30 p.m. this afternoon has been postponed because Missouri Department of Transportation crews want to evaluate the results of the initial blast.

The blasts at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. will occur on weekdays throughout the summer.
