St. Louis (KSDK) -- The best gymnasts in the country will be competing in the VISA National Championship this weekend in St. Louis. A strong showing here could help them land a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.
And one young woman hoping to make the team will have a home town crowd cheering her on. Sarah Finnegan grew up in St. Louis County before she moved to the other side of the state to train.
The 15 year-old is just old enough to compete for a spot on the Olympic Team. Her first gym was in Webster Groves where her old coach says gymnastics came easy to Finnegan.
There are only five spots on the Olympic team, but Sarah is confident she can earn a trip to London and compete with world class gymnasts.
"I try not to put too much pressure on myself," says Finnegan. "I know I need to work hard to get where I want to go, but everything is very exciting at the same time so I just want to make the most out of it and enjoy it."
Sarah expects to have more than 50 friends and family in the stands this weekend cheering for her.
