Glen Carbon, Ill (KSDK) --   Traffic continues to move slowly along westbound Interstate 270 at Illinois Route 159 in Madison County this morning.

An accident involving a tractor trailer that caught fire had forced the closure of all westbound lanes for a time.  Illinois State Police officials say one traffic lane headed west is open to thru traffic; however the other westbound lanes are closed, and will remain closed for a couple of hours.

There were no immediate reports of injuries connected to the crash, and the circumstances of the incident have not been disclosed while the investigation is on-going.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
