Leonard Sonnenschein, World Aquarium president, says a surveillance tape caught the suspects in the act on May 18th, and that tape has been turned over to St. Louis police.
The missing snakes include a ball python (two feet long), a California Kingsnake (four feet long), a Dumeril's boa (four and a half feet long), a Brazilian Rainbow Boa (five feet long), and an Albino Boa (six feet long).
Also stolen was a veiled chameleon.
Sonnenschein says the evening the animals were stolen two contractors were left alone in the building after the aquarium closed.
This is not something the aquarium usually does, but one of the contractors was well-known to the aquarium.
Authorities won't say what exactly the cameras captured, but they have interviewed the contractor that was well-known to the aquarium. His assistant is considered a person of interest.
