ST. LOUIS (AP/KSDK) - Search crews have suspended their search for a man spotted struggling in the Mississippi River.

The search began Thursday night, and was suspended shortly after 9 p.m.  A Coast Guard boat resumed the search Friday morning.

Two fishermen spotted the man Thursday night south of the Macarthur Railway Bridge in downtown St. Louis. Several rescue crews responded to several calls about the man, but he was not located.

The Coast Guard used a 25-foot Response Boat and a shore patrol to search for the man.  They search pattern has crews going down to the Jefferson Barracks Bridge.

It wasn't clear what the man may have been doing in the river, or how he got there.
