St. Louis, MO (KSDK)- A man accused of opening fire with a gun last week and striking an innocent child has made his first court appearance and will be held on bail pending his next hearing scheduled for August.
Jimmy Brown, 19, is charged in St. Louis with two counts of first- degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action in the shooting last Friday in the 4400 block of Lexington.
Investigators say Brown and a woman were arguing prior to the shooting, when the woman departed in a car. Brown is alleged to have opened fire when a bullet striking the child in the stomach. The little boy was not involved in the dispute and unrelated to either of the combatants according to police.
A second man was also arrested and charged in the investigation. Eric Whitehead, 34, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. He was also arraigned in court Tuesday and will return in August.
