St. Louis (KSDK) - This year's Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure may have fewer participants than in the past, and politics could be the reason.
Last minute registration blitz's were held Wednesday at local shopping centers.
Right now, about 50,000 people are signed up. The average is around 60,000.
Earlier this year the national organization pulled its funding for Planned Parenthood and then reversed the decision, and local chapters had to deal with angry supporters.
Komen admits numbers are down slightly, but won't say whether politics had anything to do with it.
