Chesterfield, MO (KSDK) - A 36-year-old California man was charged Thursday in connection with a fatal car crash in February that claimed the life of a Vianney High School graduate.

According to Chesterfield Police Chief Ray Johnson, the accident occurred February 21, 2012 around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Olive and Creve Coeur Mill Road. A 2012 Infiniti SUV was driving eastbound when it crossed the center line and hit a 2007 Dodge Truck then continued and struck a 1998 Honda Accord in a head-on collision.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Clayton Pfeiffer of South St. Louis County, died as a result of his injuries.

Johnson said laboratory tests on Kawamura's blood showed methamphetamine in his system at the time of the accident.

Warrants were issued charging Kawamura with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault DWI.
