Metro thanks riders for dumping the pump

St. Louis (KSDK) -- Metro is joining public transit agencies around the country to thank its customers for dumping the pump.

Gas prices in St. Louis are hovering around $3.30 a gallon.

Metro said drivers can save big by ditching the car and choosing to ride a bus or the Metrolink to work.  According to the American Public Transit Association, a two-car household could save as much as $10,000 per year by switching to public transportation.

Metro spokesperson Dianne Williams said Metro bus and lighr rail ridership is up.

This is the seventh annual Dump the Pump Day.
