St. Louis, MO (KSDK)-   Police will continue to search the metropolitan area for persons of interest in a series of shootings over the past several weeks.

Patrol officers spotted a possible suspect vehicle early Friday on Minerva Avenue in north St. Louis and tried to curb the car when the driver accelerated and fled the area.

Officers then saw the car at Belt and Enright, but the driver was already bailing out of the vehicle and running away into the neighborhood.

Canine officers and the police helicopter began a more thorough search of the neighborhood but came up empty after losing track of the person they wanted to question.

Further details are sketchy; however police did say they were looking for the man for incidents in the fifth and ninth districts, crimes that occurred in the past month.
