ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - We're barely a week into summer and already, the warm weather could top 100-degrees this week. The Better Business Bureau reminds residents that it's important to keep cool, but not bust your budget.
It offers the following advice on air conditioning:
-Clear debris & change the filter
-Use a programmable thermostat
-Have heating and cooling systems checked by professsional
-Replace old units with more energy-efficient models
-Select A/C units based on Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER)
-Buy a unit that is sized to fit your home
-Check your refrigerant-try to put outside unit in the shade
-Get estimates and a written contract when buying a new A/C unit
-Don't pay entire amount before it's installed
