St. Louis County (KSDK) - Three teens are now being called life savers after a near drowning at Castlewood State Park.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. near a boat ramp at the park.
Three boys between 10 and 12-years-old were out there with their mom when they got into the water and pulled out by the current.
That's when the three 16 and 17-year-olds heard screaming coming from the family and swam a distance to help.
They say they were able to pull the boys to safety before anyone got hurt, but assistant chief with the Metro-West Fire Department says that even though the waters seem low, they are more dangerous than ever.
The chief says none of the boys was wearing a life jacket, making this a good time to remind folks about how important it is to take precautions out on the water.
