Cooling, hydration centers opened in St. Louis region

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - With temperatures hitting triple digits in the next few days, the Salvation Army is offering its community centers as cooling areas.

The group's mobile canteens will be delivering cold water to those living in urban areas, focusing on Cevenant Blue Grand Center, Midtown, Shaw, Vandeventer and JeffVanderLou neighborhoods on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those seeking refuge from the heat may go to the following Salvation Army locations:

Alton 525 Alby St., 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Granite City, 3007 East 23rd St., 9 a.m.-noon & 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
East St. Louis, 616 North 16th St., 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Belleville Corps, 20 Glory Place, 10 a.m.-Noon & 1p.m.-2:30 p.m.
Arnold Corps, 3740 Telegraph Rd., 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Euclid Corps, 2618 North Euclid Ave., 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Temple Corps, 2740 Arsenal St., 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Gateway Citadel Corps, 824 Union Rd., 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Family Haven, 10740 Page Ave., 8 a.m.-Noon & 1 p.m.-4:15p.m.
Maplewood, 7701 Rannells Ave., 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
St. Charles Corps, 2140 N. Fourth St., 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
O'Fallon Corps, #1 William Booth Dr., 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Residents are urged to call first to confirm availability and hours, as they may change and vary from location to location, depending on staffing.
