  • Valley Park, MO (KSDK) - Several brush fires in the Valley Park and Fenton area are slowing traffic on Interstate 44 and Highway 141.

The brush fires are small and firefighters are putting them out quickly, but they are creating a lot of smoke in the area.

Around 3:15 p.m. Thursday a two alarm brush fire started in the Pacific, Missouri area along Highway OO and Clipper Lane.  This fire is also creating a lot of smoke.

The cause of the fires has not been released, though the hot, dry conditions the area is experiencing makes brush fires more likely.

As a result of the conditions, the City of Arnold has canceled their fireworks display scheduled for July 4.

NewsChannel 5 will provide more information on this story as details become available.
