BENTON, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a southern Illinois boat collision that killed two people happened during trial runs by a boat manufacturer.

The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reports that 38-year-old Larry Smithhart of West Melbourne, Fla., died in the accident Tuesday on Rend Lake. The body of the former Carmi man was found the next day.

Smithhart worked for BRP Inc., a global maker of boats and recreational vehicles with a Benton plant.

The other victim, Teresa Camargo, died at a St. Louis hospital. She worked for BRP supplier Milsco Mexico. Her age was not immediately available.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources' conservation police is investigating the crash.
