Swansea, IL (KSDK) - Police in Belleville apprehended a known homeless man in the sexual assault against a child under ten years of age on Sunday in Swansea.
50 year old Cedric Pollard was taken into custody Tuesday evening according to officers, who did not disclose any additional details on the apprehension.
Authorities say Pollard was last seen in the area of Sullivan Drive and Llewellyn Road in Swansea, not far from where an aggravated sexual assault occurred in the 1700 block of Barbary Way.
Prosecutors have charged Pollard with predatory sexual assault against the victim.
Pollard is now jailed at the St. Clair County Jail in Belleville awaiting his initial court appearance.
Details of the crime involving the young victim have not been released.
