Jefferson County, Mo (KSDK) -- State and federal grant funding cuts may make it difficult to fight the war on drugs in Jefferson County.
Jefferson County Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer said the funding cuts impact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Municipal Enforcement Unit and will result in cutting three task force officers.
Sheriff Boyer said the unit has been operating with one-third less than the maximum number of personnel.
The narcotics unit has been helping fight heroin use and is on record pace for the number of methamphetamine lab seizures.
Sheriff Boyer said the task force will not be able to responde to complaints as quickly as they currently can. He urges people to continue to report information.
