Richmond Heights, MO (KSDK) -- Officials were investigating damage to two dumpsters outside a church in Richmond Heights, Richmond Heights Police Captain Craig Mueller said.

Police said the damage to the dumpsters was due to a large amount of consumer grade fireworks, according to ATF investigators.

Police say around 10:20 p.m. Monday, residents in the 8000 block of Clayton Road heard a single loud blast. Officers responded, yet found nothing.

Then around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, a maintenance worker found two damaged dumpsters in the parking lot of the Church of the Immacolata on Clayton Rd, near the Galleria.  They also found a broken window.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or A.T.F. went to the scene along with other explosives experts from St. Louis County Police and Richmond Heights Police Department.

Officials have not produced any evidence that the church was specifically targeted or threatened.

No arrests have been made.
