Metro East, IL (KSDK) -- Bad news for some kids in Illinois wanting to celebrate this 4th of July with sparklers and party poppers.
GUIDE: FOURTH OF JULY ST. LOUIS
The City of Belleville and the City of Smithton have both issued a temporary ban on all fireworks, effective immediately and until further notice. This is due to the dry, hot weather and high risk of fire.
Both bans include fireworks that are typically legal in the city, such as snakes, sparklers, party poppers, smoke devices and more.
The City of Belleville says their ban will likely be in effect for two weeks, or until the extremely dry weather subsides.
