St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- A local community was chosen to represent Missouri in a national recycling competition, Waste Management said Monday.
Bellefontaine Neighbors was chosen to participate in a national challenge by Waste Management and Recyclebank that will run from July 2012 to December 2013.
The winner of the competition receives a $100,000 grant from SC Johnson for local sustainability projects.
The purpose of the competition is to encourage customers to increase household recycling.
Even though Bellefontaine will represent Missouri in this competition, everyone in the St. Louis community is able to participate in Recyclebank's program that rewards members with points to earn gift cards, coupons, free products and other prizes.
