East Alton, Ill (KSDK) -- A fault at the Olin Branss subtstation fed out of the the Wood River power plant knocked out power to thousands of people in the Metro East, according to Ameren Illinois spokesperson Kenny Blum.
The power outage impacted about 7,700 customers in East Alton, Wood River and Bethalto on Thursday.
All power was restored by 8:30 a.m.
Ameren Illinois said the outage did not have anything to do with the heat or power overload.
The power plant is owned by Dynergy.
