24 people treated for heat-related illnesses in St. Louis-area

St. Louis (KSDK) -- With the temperatures once again reaching the triple digits, two dozen people were treated at St. Louis-area hospitals for heat-related illnesses on the Fourth of July.

The St. Louis County Department of Health said three people were admitted to hospitals and six were treated and released due to the heat.

The City of St. Louis reported 13 people were treated at city hospitals because of the heat.

Cool Down St. Louis is helping area seniors and the disabled with their air-conditioning and utilities. Also, the Health Department is encouraging residents to call the United Way at 1-800-427-4626 or at 211 from a land line if they need additional heat related or other assistance.
