St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office has charged a 56-year-old man for shooting an 12-year-old boy who was setting off fireworks in his neighborhood.
The shooting occurred around 9:40 p.m. Thursday in the 4200 block of Blaine in the Botanical Heights neighborhood.
Police said the boy was riding a bike with two other kids while shooting off fireworks. The shooter confronted the boys about the fireworks, leading to an argument. Police said the man pulled out a gun and fired several shots toward the kids. As the kids were pedaling away on their bikes, the 12-year-old felt a pain in his thigh and fell to the ground. This was when he realized he had been hit with a bullet.
The boy was rushed to a local hospital in stable condition. He is not cooperating with police.
Court documents show William Prada was with three counts of first-degree assault and three counts of armed criminal action.
