Fenton, Mo (KSDK) - The bomb and arson squad is investigating a house explosion in Fenton.

Crews were called to the 2100 block of Palatine Court in a subdivision off of Highway 141 and Interstate 44 around 5 a.m. Friday.

The first crews on scene reported heavy fire coming from the residence. Several neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion from the scene before seeing flames and smoke. Firefighters immediately asked for extra manpower to respond to the scene.

The homeowner told NewsChannel 5's Ryan Dean the house had been on the market for about a week and the family moved out two weeks ago.  The homeowner had planned to rent the home, but it is thankful he did not.

St. Louis County police said someone was injured in the fire and transported to an area hospital for treatment. It is unclear if the person was in the house at the time of the explosion.

St. Louis County police said it was too early to determine if it was a crime scene.
