Franklin County, Mo (KSDK) -- All westbound lanes of Interstate-44 will be closed Monday night for bridge girders to be put in place for the new Route 100 Bridge.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will close all lanes of I-44 between the Gray Summit and Washington exits at 10 p.m. Monday. THey will reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Drivers who normally use westbound I-44 are urged to use I-270 to Route 30 to access I-44 during the closure. Local traffic can detour to Route 100 in Gray Summit, then Route MM, then Route T to get back to Route 100 to access the interstate. There will be signs to help direct drivers.
One eastbound lane will also be closed during the same time period.
MoDOT said five times overnight all I-44 lanes will be closed for 20 minute stretches for the girders to be set in place.
During the eastbound lane closures, drivers on eastbound I-44 are urged to use Route 30 to I-270 to avoid delays.
