St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office charged a 21-year-old local man in connection with a double shooting in the Gravois Park neighborhood that left one person dead.
According to Katie O'Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting took place shortly after 11:40 p.m. on June 27 in the 3800 block of Louisiana Avenue.
The victims, identified as 26-year-old Ira Steele and a 20-year-old woman, were standing outside when three men drove by and opened fire. Ira Steele was struck in the face and chest and died at the scene. The second victim was shot in the back several times but survived. She was taken to a local hospital and listed in serious condition. No further updates have been given on her status.
Police arrested 21-year-old Byron Pollard for the shooting, O'Sullivan said. Pollard was charged July 5 with one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action. He remains jailed on $500,000 cash-only bond.
