COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Crews have been searching for a teenager who friends say was last seen in the Missouri River in southern Boone County.
The Columbia Daily-Tribune reports that the 18-year-old was by the river with a group of friends when he went under Monday afternoon.
Capt. Chris Swisher of the Boone County Fire Protection District says the teen resurfaced once and went back under the water near the mouth of Perche Creek.
Swisher says workers have used sonar and other equipment, including dragging boats, to search the area.
