St. Louis (KSDK) -- St. Louis Police say the suspect that was shot by an officer Tuesday afternoon in south St. Louis has died.
Police were responding to a call for burglars in a building in the 6200 block of Famous Avenue when they say 23 year old Brandon Jones started shooting. Police returned fire, striking Jones. No officers were injured.
Police say four suspects were involved. Jones was the only suspect shot. Two fled on foot but were captured. A fourth suspect is a woman said to be driving the getaway vehicle.
As of early Wednesday morning, that woman was still being sought by authorities. She has not been identified.
Police have recovered the SUV involved in the incident. The blue Ford Explorer was found abandoned in the 2900 block of Pestalozzi. Police are still searching for the driver.
A St. Louis Metropolitan Police cruiser responding to the scene was involved in an accident at Manchester and Tamm. That officer was also not hurt.
The two officers involved in the shooting are both female patrol officers. One is 48 years old, and a 23 year veteran of the force. The second is a 38 year old who has ten years with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Both have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in an officer involved shooting.
