Westchester, NY (News12/CNN) - It has been nearly two months since Mary Richardson Kennedy was found dead in her Bedford, New York home.
The Westchester County medical examiner said the estranged wife of Robert Kennedy Junior died from a hanging.
Now, the New York news journalist who found Kennedy's body is talking.
"It's a shock. You never expect to see a close friend dead," said Shannon White. "The man with me said 'What is that?' and I said 'That's her.' It was horrendous. I went over to her and I prayed with her body. It felt important to me as a member of the media to come straight out and say what my involvement was.
White says Kennedy contacted her five weeks before taking her life.
The local news reporter says she was Kennedy's Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor and spiritual advisor.
Anti-depressants were in Kennedy's body at the time of her death, not alcohol.
