St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis has thousands of dilapidated, disintegrating buildings. Once beautiful homes, now in disrepair, many of them have become part of Demond Meek's online photo essay "Slum Beautiful," a name borrowed from a song by the band Outkast.
The photos are gaining international attention, including an article by the London Daily Mail. Meek hopes his photos create a dialogue about what St. Louis should do about thousands of oddly beautiful eyesores.
"I'm passionate about architecture. I'm passionate about buildings," said St. Louis photographer Demond Meek. "I wanted to bring awareness to the jewels that we have, the treasures that we have."
