House Springs, MO (KSDK) - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened around 5:40 p.m. Monday.

The incident happened in the 5600 block of Carter Drive in House Springs. One man was shot and airlifted to an area hospital.

Deputies say the owner of the home had allowed a couple to live with her, but she recently kicked them out after finding out they were making meth.

On Monday they came back to collect their belongings, but the homeowner would not let them in.

The couple came back with the guy's parents, and according to the homeowner's son, the parents ended up in a fight. The fight then involved pepper spray and baseball bats, and eventually the boyfriend of the homeowner shot the father of the guy who had been kicked out.

The victim's family drove him away and stopped at the parking lot of the old Walmart in House Springs because they realized he needed help. They called 911 and he was airlifted to an area hospital.

The victim's condition has not been released.
