Hyatt skywalk disaster anniversary

Kansas City, MO (KSDK) - In an instant, more than 100 people lost their lives in Kansas City 31 years ago.

On July 17, 1981, concrete and steel crashed down at the Hyatt Regency Hotel when a 35 ton skywalk collapsed during a weekly tea dance. 114 people died and it remains the worst structural engineering disaster in U.S. history.

NewsChannel 5's Art Holliday spoke to some of the St. Louisans affected by the Hyatt skywalk disaster.
