23 heat deaths in St. Louis-area

St. Louis County, Mo (KSDK) -- There are two more heat deaths in the St. Louis-area as temperatures are again expected to reach the triple digits.

A source said Franklin Trumperter, 89, was found dead in a one-story brick home in the 400 block of Monticello Drive in Ballwin.  The central air-conditioner was off and had not been working properly.

The St. Clair County coroner said Otha Bowman, 62, was found dead in an abandoned home in the 1200 block of North 35th Street in East St. Louis.  Bowman was homeless.

Trrumperter and Bowman both died Tuesday.

Earlier this week, the number of heat deaths in the city of St. Louis reached 17 since June 24.  Last year, eight people in the city of St. Louis died from the heat.

There have been 23 heat deaths in the St. Louis-area.
