Louisville, KY (WAVE/CNN) - Severe weather swept through Louisville, Kentucky Thursday evening, leaving two dead and ripping the top off a hotel.
Winds were clocked at over 60 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
Debris from the top of Louisville's Crowne Plaza Hotel ended up scattered over cars in the parking lot below, but no injuries were reported there.
But emergency responders say they got a call about lightning striking a house around 6:45 p.m.
When crews arrived they found smoke in the basement. Two people were taken to the hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
