(KSDK)  The St. Louis Blues announced they have signed forward T.J. Oshie to a five-year contract extension, avoiding salary arbitration.

The deal will average $4.175 million per year.

Oshie scored 19 goals and had 35 assists for the Blues, who are coming off their best season in over a decade.

Oshie and the Blues had until midnight, ET, to come to an agreement or he and the team would have gone to salary arbitration.
