Bellview, MO (KSDK) -   A Jefferson County man died late Saturday night from injuries suffered in a Friday evening crash in Iron County.

Missouri Highway Patrol troopers say Carroll Wilcox; 57 of Festus, was southbound on Highway O south of Bellview when his motorcycle struck a deer standing in the roadway.

Wilcox was thrown from the Harley-Davison motorcycle and tossed onto the pavement in the 8:20 p.m. incident.  Troopers say Wilcox was not wearing a Department of Transportation  approved helmet and had a severe head injury due to the collision.

Wilcox was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur where he died just before 11:00 p.m. Saturday.
