Cop shoots armed man following traffic stop

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A police officer wounded a suspect in a south St. Louis incident Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the 2800 block of Osage Street, near the intersection of California Avenue. No cops were injured.

Police said they pulled over a vehicle, but both individuals in the car took off on foot.  One of those man turned and showed a hand gun.  A police officer shot the armed man three times. 

The wounded suspect does not appear to have life-threatening injuries.  He's listed in serious but stable condition.

The officer who fired on the suspect is 30-years-old and has four years of experience on the force.

This is the 13th officer-involved shooting in the City of St. Louis in 2012.  In 2011, there was a total of 15 officer-involved shootings.
