St. Louis (KSDK) - The heat is starting to take a toll on those super-popular food trucks you see all around town.
NewsChannel 5's Sharon Stevens spoke with a food truck operator who says this heat wave is a concern.
Next Tuesday will be the last day on the street for the Pi Pizzeria food truck. Officials say food safety during hot weather is one of the reasons they're pulling the truck off the street.
Pi was among the first mobile vendors when it started out two years ago, and will continue to operate its six brick-and-mortar restaurants.
Pi officials say they became concerned about keeping their food safe during this heat wave and keeping their employees safe too.
In a statement they said, "We have realized there are too many factors in mobile operations that can compromise our guest experience and the comfort of our team members."
The other food van operators that we talked with say they will be open.
