Fenton, MO (KSDK) - Three people are being treated for injuries suffered in a fire in Fenton that started early Thursday afternoon.
The two-alarm fire erupted in a ranch-style home on May Valley Drive around noon.
Investigators say the fire broke out in the garage, spreading to the rest of the home.
When firefighters arrived, police told them several people were trapped in the basement. A man, woman, and a man, woman, and child were pulled to safety.
"We attempted to make an interior but things started deteriorating pretty quick so Valley Park's fire team came around and took out the basement window and the victims were able to, with our help, extricate from the building that way," said Chief John Batterton.
All three were treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation.
There's no word on their conditions.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
