Shiloh, IL (KSDK)--What started out as a quiet, rainy Sunday morning in Shiloh, quickly turned into a rude awakening for some local residents.
A neighbor passing by noticed that someone had spray painted the letters KKK and a symbol next to it on their neighbor's garage door.
The homeowners were as shocked as the rest of the neighborhood to find out what had happened when police knocked on their door. Neighbors were left wondering how the vandals got away with it.
"We do have a very good neighborhood watch in that area that's monitored by the police department," said Shiloh Police Sgt. Sean Joy. "We did a canvas of the area right away. Nobody saw or heard anything out of the ordinary that night."
And that leaves local law enforcement with few clues to what prompted this shocking act of vandalism.
But residents see this as a wake-up call to watch out for their neighborhood.
Police continue to look for any leads in this case. If you have any information call the Shiloh Police Department or the anonymous CrimeStoppers tip line at 866-371-TIPS.
