(KNTV) -- A California mother says she found an old, rusty razor blade in a bag of Jolly Rancher candy.
"I was going for another blue one and all of sudden I saw white, which didn't make sense because everything is colored in there and when I pulled it out, my heart just sank and I was like, what is this?" Amy Hu says.
It was a sharp razor blade wrapped with white tape on one end.
She's worried about possible contamination from the blade.
"That's the most alarming thing of all, I have a one and a half month old baby and I'm breast-feeding and so I don't know what I just put in my system, if it could have Hepatitis, germs, bacteria which I can give to my child," Hu says.
Her husband posted a picture of the blade on the Jolly Rancher Facebook page.
The parent company, Hershey, commented back, saying they were sorry this happened.
They offered her three bags of candy as a replacement, but amy says that's not what she wants.
"My whole purpose of getting this out, I just really want it to be safe. This could have been my toddler or someone else's child. I don't want anything from Hershey except for them just to be really more cautious of what happens," she says.
Hershey is calling this "an isolated incident" and has issued no recalls.
The company says food safety is a top priority and it will be taking any actions necessary to prevent this from happening in the future.
