St. Louis (KSDK) - St. Louis is filled with gold medalists and not just in the sports arena.

During these summer games, we are recognizing 10 outstanding individuals who are making a difference in our community.

On Tuesday, the local mom behind Zach's Challenge was honored.

"Zach was a fantastic kid. He was more concerned about how everybody else felt than how himself felt," said Amy Wildhaber.

When Zach Wildhaber died in a car crash, his family struggled to find meaning in their loss. The family decided to donate Zach's organs, and that act of caring was the spark that lit a fire for Amy Wildhaber to start Zach's Challenge.

"Our goal for Zach's Challenge is to have 1,000 people on the donor list, which affects 25,000 people and their families," said Amy.

And Amy knows that help so many other families is the best legacy she could imagine for her son.

"All Zach ever wanted to do was to help somebody else, so I think he'd be pretty proud," said Amy.
