Edwardsville, IL (KSDK) -- Wednesday night, there will be a big development in the showdown between the Edwardsville school district and its teachers.
According to the Belleville News Democrat, Edwardsville teachers will vote on the final contract offer from the district. In previous statements, union leaders said the issue isn't salaries.
Last week, the Belleville News Democrat reported district leaders had made their final offer and contract negotiations have reached an impasse. It's not clear what's in this offer. But some of the of the districts initial proposals, according to the paper, included: Eliminating the team structure, cutting the literacy/reading class, lengthening the class periods from 44 minutes to 52 minutes, and changing class sizes.
Both sides have agreed on the primary issue; the state's failure to provide promised funding.
